All sides in the War on Terror rely on both education and force to some extent to modify the behavior of their opponents.
When many westerners look at people like the 9/11 hijackers and suicide bombers, they see irrational people who don't respect basic human values. But is that a useful perspective?
When there is a group of people who are willing to die for something, their dedication has to be respected and their motives have to be analyzed. It is wrong to dismiss them (e.g. as "radicals") without understanding why they accept such extreme tactics.
