Nawaz Sharif, former (and possibly future) Prime Minister of Pakistan may be the public person who holds most of the useful cards in the War on Terror.

He is a conservative Muslim with a history of direct involvement in the kind of intrigue that confuses outsiders so much. His support of conservative Islam and his associations with intelligence types in Saudi Arabia as well as his own country might be cause for concern.
